Yesterday was tough. I called it quits early and looked for a motel. This one had a Waffle House so it was a yes!!!
I was surprised by the Mississippi coast this morning. Maybe because it was a Monday or COVID had everything shut down. But it was very nice. No crowds and no traffic congestion. Plenty of parking and lots of public beach access. There were even tractors on the beach grading the high and low spots. They were sifting the sand to clean up garbage or maybe dog turds.
I have traveled a lot but maybe I am still a little naive. I thought I could breeze into the French Quarter in New Orleans, find a parking spot, grab some photos and lunch. Boy was I wrong. Talk about a "fish out of water."
It was dark, dirty and graffiti was everywhere. If we had been part of a tour group, it might have been different. Even if I could have found parking, I would have been uneasy. The lockable pockets on the Goldwing are flimsy plastic. It did not feel safe. So I observed and got out of town.
