Chihuly Art Exhibit at Biltmore House
We wanted to go to the national Gold Wing rally, Wing Ding 40, in Knoxville, TN during the last week in August but the extended forecast called for rain and high humidity. Thursday and Friday of August 23, 24 was looking beautiful for late summer in the Carolinas. Low 80's in the day, 50's at night, low humidity and no rain. We cancelled our plans for Knoxville, loaded up Silvia the Gold Wing and headed for the mountains a week earlier than planned.
I was thinking about going to the Grandfather Mountain area then I remembered that Laurie wanted to see the Chihuly art exhibit at Biltmore in Asheville. I am not an art lover kind of guy as a lot of it does nothing for me. But Chihuly's stuff with blown glass was pretty neat. You can see his website here.
I got evening tickets to Biltmore as we wanted to see the exhibit lit up at night. With those tickets we also had access to everything at Biltmore except the house during the day. We hit the winery for a wine tasting and had a nice bottle with a cheese platter before the exhibit.
Friday we got on the Blue Ridge Parkway and rode it all the way to the Boone area. There are no fall colors yet, but the weather was perfect.
This blog is really just to show some photos of the exhibit, so enjoy. Thanks for visiting.
