The awning motor failed the first time I extended the awning at home. There was no way to retrieve the awning with a dead motor. There were some screws that connected the motor shaft to the awning roll. I removed those and rolled up the awning by hand.
I then put tie wraps around the arms so the awning could not unroll. I took the RV back to the dealer and the motor was replaced with no problems. The motor worked fine from that point until we sold the RV.
