Two Propane Leaks

I don't have photos for these yet but I have found two propane leaks. I could actually hear one of them.

There is a metal pipe that runs between the two propane tanks. At each end there is a flexible hose. On one side the hose connects to a tank. On the other, it connects to the regulator. My metal pipe had leaks at both ends at these fittings.

I have fixed both leaks using Teflon tape. You can't use regular Teflon tape. There is a special type for gas lines.

I'm not sure if the the leaks came from the factory or developed later but I suspect the leaks are a day one problem. I've always thought I was using too much propane.

To locate the leak, put a squirt of liquid dish washing detergent into a cup of water. Use a cotton cloth to put some of the water on suspected leaks. A leak will form a soap bubble. Check all the gas connections.
