We Are Off
So we did not get out at 4:00am like my grandfather Walter would do back in the 70's. He always wanted to get out early to beat all the traffic. In the photo below, Tucker is leaving a symbolic space for Bradley who will not be going with us this year.
Our first campground was the Walmart in Evansville, IN.
For the first couple of days we just want to get some miles behind us quick. A Hardee's biscuit is hard to beat when you are in a rush. We woke up at 5:00am and decided to hit the road to beat the St. Louis rush hour.
I simply thought this was neat.
The first couple of days were all about driving. I had planned to simply return to the Yellowstone Park area this year and spend a lot of time in one area with less driving than normal. But Tucker and Laurie both want to see the Pacific coast and diesel fuel is cheaper than normal so we are headed for the coast.

We did 761 miles on the first day and oddly 761 miles on the second day. Time to slow down now and enjoy the Oregon/Mormon trail along the North Platte River in Nebraska.
